In this artwork, I've tried to capture that moment when the ships sail away and she's almost about to chase after the sailor love on a boat; the one sailor who made her wish for legs. But, when you see her reflection in the water, you realize that she is in fact a Siren, mythical creatures that use their singing to lure sailors to their death. In this case, the Siren isn't exactly mourning that her love has sailed away, but that he was the one person she couldn't lure into her trap. As a character, she has spikes on her back because there are some things that she can't shed from her Siren form. Her long braided hair that flows behind her are actually her gills and because she has so many gills, she's able to swim faster and deeper into the water.
